Eric Merola is a Los Angeles-based artist and filmmaker.

Eric Merola began his career as a painter in the southeastern United States in the late 1990s before moving to New York City in 1997, where he immersed himself in the competitive fine art scene. During this time, he had the opportunity to meet privately with legendary gallerist Leo Castelli — an experience that left a lasting impression on his artistic path.

While pursuing fine art in New York, Merola was drawn into the world of commercial art, working with several of Manhattan’s top Madison Avenue advertising agencies from 2000 to 2008.

In 2008, he shifted focus toward investigative filmmaking and journalism, spending the next decade producing documentary films that explored disruptive and controversial medical technologies.

In 2019, Merola returned full circle to painting, resuming his work as a full-time artist while continuing to explore emerging ideas and technologies that challenge conventional thinking.

He is currently a resident artist at 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, California.
